Teaching

As a post-doc, but also while conducting my PhD-research, I have the opportunity to engage in (co-)teaching several courses on BA and MA level. Here is a brief overview of the kind of courses in which I have been involved. More details are included in my CV.

  • Quantitative Research Methods (MA level): Since 2021, I teach the course Quantitative Research Methods in the Master’s program. This course is designed to refresh, deepen, and extend the knowledge and skills in quantitative methodology of students writing their master’s thesis. It consists of lectures and exercises in the computer lab. I am also a point of contact for students writing their master’s thesis using quantitative methodology.
  • Seminar Political Science (3rd BA level): For several years already, I have co-taught a seminar on 3rd BA level. While the specific topic of the seminar varies every year, it is always connected to elections (e.g., electoral behaviour, voting at 16, local elections, etc.). In 2020, I was solely responsible for teaching this seminar.
  • Political Sociology (3rd BA level): I have co-taught the course “political sociology” on 3rd BA level several times. More specifically, I have been responsible to autonomously teach several classes about educational level as a new political cleavage in Western societies, and our own coursebook on voting at 16.
  • Statistics tutorial (several levels): Apart from theoretical courses, I also have experience teaching quantitative research methods. More specifically, I have taught introductory sessions (both theoretical as well as practical session in the computer lab) on BA, MA, and PhD level.
  • Other: Besides these formal teaching duties, I have taught a series of (guest) lectures in various other courses.
